About Us
Cryo-electron microscopy and tomography core facility (CEMCOF) is an open-access user facility operated by CEITEC, Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic). The facility is available to users from both academia and industry and provides access to state-of-the-art electron microscopy instrumentation for structural and cellular biology research. CEMCOF manages and operates three transmission electron cryo-microscopes, two FIB-SEM microscopes, a wide-field cryo-fluorescence microscope, and a variety of instruments for sample preparation. We are dedicated to support our users in sample preparation, technical assistance during microscope operation, data analysis, and training. CEMCOF is a part of the European Research Infrastructure Consortium INSTRUCT ERIC under the Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB) funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, and a partner in the transnational access project iNEXT-Discovery.
Our Mission
- provide access to the state-of-the-art cryo-EM instrumentation for high-resolution structure determination using single particle analysis or cryo-electron microscopy
- provide access to the cryo-FIB/SEM microscopes for cellular lamella preparation
- support scientists to carry out research using cryo-EM independently
- develop workflows, instrumentation, and software to streamline and automate the research using cryo-EM
Job Opportunities
We are constantly seeking highly motivated colleagues at different career levels to join our team. The potential applicants can directly contact the facility manager for informal enquiries.
Funding
The facility is primarily funded by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Czech Republic through the Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB) project.
